Royal Musical Association Study Day

The Department of Music at the University of Birmingham is delighted to host a Royal Musical Association Study Day on the theme of “Identity and Vinyl Culture”. We will be welcoming postgraduate researchers and practitioners from all areas of music to present their work in an inclusive, accessible and supportive space.

The resurgence of vinyl records in a multi-format, multi-channel listening world raises fundamental questions around the development of music technology, accessibility and the social practice of listening.

Keynote speaker: Professor Paul Long, Birmingham City University

Sessions:

  • Materiality and Self
  • Digital backlash
  • Patterns of Consumption

Cost:

  • RMA Members and University of Birmingham Students: Free Registration
  • Standard Registration: £10.00
