Displaced Music Researcher Membership and Bursary Scheme

Displaced Music Researcher Membership and Bursary Scheme

The RMA offers a Displaced Music Researcher Membership and Bursary Scheme. This scheme is designed to offer free membership, mentorship and support to facilitate music research (in any area, including practice research) to scholars from any country who have been displaced from their jobs or (doctoral) studies as a result of conflict and/or political circumstances. We do not require that these academics be resident in the UK. Free membership will be offered for a year in the first instance and is renewable.

In line with the RMA’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, we encourage applications from across the full spectrum of music studies, including individuals from currently underrepresented groups.

We can offer:

  • Free membership
  • Mentoring
  • Access to RMA resources and benefits, including electronic research resources and our journals
  • Access to our bursary scheme to support music research in the broadest sense.

We will require a personal statement of c. 500 words, identifying i) your home country and the country of displacement; ii) your former status as an academic at a university or equivalent, doctoral student or independent researcher; iii) the reason for displacement; and iv) how the award will benefit your research.

Please contact Amanda Babington exec@rma.ac.uk with expressions of interest and completed statements. There is no deadline.

Please send any information about schemes to support displaced researchers to administrator@rma.ac.uk.
