Musica Britannica 75th Anniversary: promoting, supporting and developoing research into British music
2026 marks the 75th anniversary of the foundation of Musica Britannica by the Royal Musical Association. Now an independent charity, Musica Britannica aims to promote, support and develop research into British music, primarily via the publication of its ongoing series of scholarly editions, but also by awarding grants to facilitate recordings of its repertory and through its annual competition for emerging performers, the Lewis Memorial Prize.
To celebrate this important year for MB, the Trustees and Editorial Committee have launched a new website, which, as well as including all the latest information about the edition and volumes in preparation, recent recipients of its Recording Award and the Lewis Memorial Prize, outlines its new publishing strategy and its guidelines for submitting a proposal for inclusion in the series.
Prospective editors and performers interested in the Recording Award or Lewis Memorial Prize are particularly welcome to explore the site to find out more about Musica Britannica’s activities and how to get involved.
