The RMA Tippett Medal for 2024 is awarded to Ed Cooper for his piece As the space functions without me for vocal soloists, spatialised choir, and digital audio, written for Leodis Consort. The panel commended this work for its adventurous choral writing but also the great care and thought in how the singers and audience encounter it. Ed is the Co-Editor of Tempo: The Quarterly Review of New Music and author of Aural Liminalities in New Music, published by Cambridge University Press. He holds a PhD in Music Composition and Aesthetics from the University of Leeds.
